On September 22 of this year, the China Academy of Information and Communications held the 2023 Trusted Metaverse Development Conference and released the "2023 Metaverse Industry Atlas" and the "2023 Metaverse Industry Atlas Research Report".
The metaverse is an integrated and innovative application of the new generation of information technology, which has sparked a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation globally. As an important carrier and advanced form of the integration of the digital economy and the real economy, it has also become a key policy support object. In the past year, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and other places have introduced policies for the development of the metaverse, and industrial development has achieved positive results. The "Three Year Action Plan for the Innovation and Development of the Metaverse Industry (2023-2025)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Action Plan") released in September this year has pointed out the direction for China's technological innovation, application implementation, and healthy industrial development of the metaverse.
The Action Plan, as a guiding document for the development of cutting-edge digital information technology and strategic emerging industries in China, has significant practical significance in promoting China's metaverse industry to break through key bottlenecks, enhance international competitiveness, achieve better, faster, and high-quality development, and further promote the construction of a modern industrial system, building a strong network, manufacturing, and digital China. "Wei Liang, Vice President of the China Academy of Information and Communications, stated at the meeting, The compilation of the "Metaverse Industry Atlas" provides important reference for the industry to gain insight into the current development status of the metaverse industry and assess future development trends.
According to the 2023 Metaverse Industry Atlas, from 2021 to March 2023, local governments successively issued 72 special policy documents to support the development of the metaverse, involving 21 provinces, municipalities, and 37 prefecture level cities and counties. Among them, there are 15 provincial-level special policy documents, and 14 local governments have included the metaverse in their government work reports, providing maximum policy support and incentives in building regional metaverse ecosystems and other aspects.
Especially in terms of investment and financing, the "2023 Metaverse Industry Atlas" shows that driven by the development of the international metaverse, domestic capital market investment and financing activities are gradually increasing. According to statistics (data source: Sina VR&Enterprise Research "2023 China Metaverse Investment and Financing Report"), in the first half of 2023, there were a total of 221 domestic metaverse investment and financing events, an increase of 194% compared to the same period in 2022; The disclosed total investment and financing amount of the Yuan Universe reached 15.86 billion RMB, an increase of 213% compared to the same period in 2022.
From the distribution of metaverse investment and financing tracks, the fields involved in domestic metaverse investment and financing mainly include hardware, software, infrastructure, and scenario applications. Among them, the infrastructure and hardware sectors have the highest popularity, with relatively few application scenarios and software fields.
In terms of software and hardware support, the "2023 Metaverse Industry Atlas" analysis suggests that the development of hardware such as chips, display devices, sensors, optical devices, and optical devices still needs further improvement, especially in terms of power consumption and immersive user perception. In terms of software, there is still room for maturity in terms of cross platform connectivity and interconnectivity between multiple types of terminals.
In terms of infrastructure, including computing power, network, and storage, the impact on the metaverse industry.
